Birkenstock

Birkenstock was founded in 1774 by Johann Adam Birkenstock, who developed the footbed cork insole and began producing shoes that would become the prototype for today's designs. The company first became known as a footwear brand in the 1960s with the development of its iconic sandals, the Arizona and Madrid, which were used by injured soldiers and athletes in World War I for their unique comfort. To this day, Birkenstock still handcrafts all of its products and uses a 17-step process to ensure the quality of its footwear.
