Peace Cabin × Khakis

Khakis has long been interested in where lasting objects come from and the
processes through which they are made. Longevity cannot be explained by
durability alone. It is defined by the materials chosen and the methods of
construction that together leave meaning within an object.
In the third delivery of FW25, Khakis presents a special product in
collaboration with Peace Cabin, composing leftover fabrics from previous
season productions into a new form, the Recycled Froebel Cushion.
Founded in 2020 in a small studio in Pennsylvania, Peace Cabin began with the vision of creative duo Angela and Daniel, who set out to create cushions suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. To this day, they remain committed to handcrafting, often working in patchwork made from indigo denim and menswear fabrics. The base is constructed from Cordura nylon for durability and water resistance, while their approach to color and fabric continues to draw inspiration from vintage outdoor clothing and gear.
The Froebel Cushion special edition introduced by Khakis is based on Peace
Cabin’s most versatile floor cushion. Whether for a brief rest or as a seat
for guests, it naturally adapts to its surroundings.
The panels
incorporate leftover fabrics from previous-season shirts, jackets, and pants,
while the handle uses woven straps from Grade Web Belt. The base is finished
in two color options of Cordura nylon, black and tan, and the interior
filling is composed of 100% biodegradable kapok fiber to provide comfort
without reliance on synthetics. With Khakis’ perspective and signature colors
added to these varied pieces and materials, the form of this special-edition
cushion is complete.
Although cushions are kept close at hand and used daily, they are often quickly consumed and easily forgotten. The Recycled Froebel Cushion, created from fabrics collected during previous-season production processes, aspires to be more than simple recycling. It is intended as an object that gains meaning over time. Within the union of different textures and materials lies not only the time that has passed but also the time that is yet to come.
