Mt. Washington Pottery

Mt. Washington Pottery is a ceramic brand founded by Los Angeles-based ceramic artist Beth Katz. Her creations reflect the natural beauty and artistic environment of Topanga Canyon in the 1970s, where she grew up. Beth’s creative philosophy centers around “following the inner voice and expressing it through her work.” She skillfully blends the aesthetic of wabi-sabi, the Japanese appreciation of imperfection, with Scandinavian modernism to pursue a balance of functionality and distinctive artistry.

Beth’s work captures a raw and natural charm through her careful attention to form, texture, and color. Some pieces from Mt. Washington Pottery feature unique brown speckles formed during the glazing process, creating natural patterns. Other handcrafted ceramics showcase vertical pillar-like textures, each piece bearing the artist's touch. The designs are organic in nature, completed with the brand’s logo engraved at the base of each piece.
